Laying of Russia’s Nord Stream-2 pipeline to start in 2018
MOSCOW, May 18 (PRIME) -- The deadline for acquisition of tender bids for laying of pipes of Russia’s Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline is set for June, the results will be summarized later in 2016, while laying works will start in 2018, a representative of the project’s operator Nord Stream 2 AG told PRIME on Wednesday.
“Nord Stream 2 AG has initiated a large international tender to choose contractors for laying of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline. The pool of tender participants, potential contractors was defined after preliminary evaluation of specialized companies,” the representative said.
“The term for submission of bids is slated for June 2016. The results will be summarized in 2016. Pipe laying works will start in 2018 in accordance with an existing schedule,” the person said.
The Nord Stream-2 project envisages construction of two lines of a gas pipeline with a capacity of up to 55 billion cubic meters of gas annually, running from the Russian shore to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Russian gas giant Gazprom will hold 50% in the project, while E.ON, BASF, Royal Dutch Shell, and OMV will own 10% each, and Engie will get a 9% stake.
